Very, Very Sad News (Search And Rescue Dogs Put Down)
Two readers have informed us of a very disturbing and sad news – that Malaysian Search & Rescue dogs were put to sleep after their retirement from service.
From one of our readers:
On the heinous act of the Malaysian Search & Rescue Department, I just could not believe my eyes when I saw that on FB…It’s a sad day for mankind. I have forwarded the link to PETA Asia Pacific hoping that it will get highlighted in their newsletter. I cannot let those poor dogs die in vain. It reminded me of the programme “War Dogs” on Nat Geo Channel in which the soldiers told the story of how US Army destroyed all their military dogs in Vietnam when the war was over. It plainly showed the utilitarian approach mankind adopted towards the lesser species.
This is extremely sad. When are humans going to learn that animals are not here to be used by us and destroyed when they are no longer able to serve us? Is this how we treat our loyal companions? If so, do we still need to wonder why there is so much senseless killing amongst humans in the whole world?
Our prayers are with the dogs, wherever they are now, in a different (better and happier) existence.
And we pray that our fellow humans learn to be more compassionate in our relationship with all beings.
