Hi Dr Chan,

Greetings and a very Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family. I hope you are well.

I have been meaning to write to you and especially these last few days I have been thinking of you, to update you on whats going on at the construction site.

Things are pretty much the same, there are still 8 dogs left at the site. We are having a difficult time to catch these dogs as they are still very cautious and will not come near enough for us to secure them.

Napoleon is the only dog that will let us pat him, he’s really friendly, but he’s also a bully and quite aggressive to the other dogs. He’s the Alpha dog.

We can remove Napoleon from the site, but have nowhere to put him.
Do you remember Ivory? Shes the one with the horrific wounds , caused by Napoleon. Ivory is with me, I brought her home so she can recover and rest from her wounds. I dont really know what I’m going to do with Ivory, although she’s been living with me for the past 3months, she’s still so skittish and so afraid . I have to approach her real slowly and then she’ll come lick my hand.

She gets on well with my other dogs.Hopefully I can find a good home for her, although to be honest ,I have not actively tried.

Margie and I were not sure if we could request for food subsidy a second time, as between us we have 1.5 bags left.

It would be a great help if we can get food subsidy and at the present moment we do not need any medical subsidy.

Thank you so much.

Warm Regards
Susan

Further news:

Dear Dr Chan,

When we first started feeding the dogs in the construction site in Bandar Utama , there were 21 dogs.

Margie and I managed to remove 13 dogs from the site. All 13 dogs have been neutered and vaccinated.

Some of these dogs have been sent to animal shelters, and Margie and I are paying for their monthly upkeep. The rest of the dogs have been sent to 2 private farms, one in Ulu Langat and the other in Seminyih.

The last dog we removed from the site was Ivory , and what was supposed to be a temporary arrangement when I brought Ivory back to my home from the vet clinic has stretched to almost 4 months.

There are now 8 dogs left at the construction site , 4 females and 4 males.
We have been trying everything we possibly can to catch these dogs, including sedating them and that certainly does not work!

I think we need professional dog catchers and we dont really know who to turn to.I have attached photos of the dogs. One of the female dogs, Jill, a brown dog, is not in the picture as I think she doesnt trust me anymore and remembers me as the one who tried to corner her.

Thank you very much for your help.

Warm Regards

If you are able to help catch these dogs, please contact Susan Bell directly at her email above. Meanwhile, we have sponsored five packs of dogfood (Black Gold, 22.6kg each) for the dogs. This sponsorship comes from our Food Fund and Ti-Ratana Penchala Community Centre.

Photos taken last year when we first started helping Susan and Margie with food and medical subsidies for the dogs.We are really glad to hear that out of 21 dogs, only 8 are left now. Kudos to Susan and Margie for all their hard word in looking after these dogs.
