We would like to address the concerns surrounding the case of the pet owner of 200 pets that has recently passed away. The Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) had no knowledge of the recent passing of the owner of Farmart Pet Shop, and the plight of the animals that were left behind.

We were alerted to salacious FaceBook postings making baseless accusations that the animals of Farmart Pet Shop will be euthanized by the SPCA if they were not adopted. We have not taken in these animals. We understand and appreciate the passion and fervour of animal lovers out there, but object to being used as the bogeyman.

The SPCA promotes rehoming animals either by means of our corporate website or on the notice board at our shelter, once we have been furnished with relevant details. We also caution members of the public who are thinking about surrendering their healthy animals to us, to try and do rehoming by themselves first before approaching us.

In order for us to work better and closer with the community, please assist us by not circulating speculation about this matter. If you would like to follow the progress of this, a rescue page has been created on Facebook at – http://www.facebook.com/FarmartRescue?fref=ts

Thank You.
