Because of the rabbit’s relatively small build, their needs are often misunderstood. Contrary to what most people believe, cages sold in most pet shops are often inadequate and provide the least amount of space for your bunny (and bunnies need lots of space to exercise and stay healthy!).
We recommend the use of a pen or a customised enclosure setup (visit http://www.myhouserabbit.com/tip_housing.php for more suggestions). However, if you do opt to house your bunny in a cage, you should ensure that the cage is large enough (at least four times the length of your rabbit when they are stretched out and lying down), and that your rabbit gets plenty of time outside the cage – at least a few hours daily! Never use glass aquariums as they are seldom large enough and do not have enough air circulation. It is also best to have a cage with a front door so you can leave the door open and let your rabbit come and go on his/her own.
Give your rabbit a lovely home, and youll have a loving, healthy companion for years to come!
