Vegetarian Recipes For Chinese New Year & Whole Year Round

It’s time for the big reunion luncheon or dinner for most Chinese families today, followed by eating and more eating along with the merry-making in the tradition of “abundance” which has been culturally associated with Chinese New Year.

In the joy of merry-making and celebrating, let’s reexamine the idea of “abundance” and translate that to “abundance” in kindness and compassion for the less fortunate (including the animals, of course!).

Sorry this sounds unpleasant (the truth usually does), but the more meat we eat, the more animals will suffer horrible deaths in the slaughterhouses, the more animals will be bred for the purpose of being slaughtered for food.

So, in the spirit of joyous Chinese New Year where most people would want prosperity and good luck rolling in for the whole year, let’s start it off by doing a great act of kindness – Eat Less Meat.

We need to eat to live, but we have a choice on what to eat. We’re definitely not going to starve to death if we eat less meat! We are omnivorous.

Here are some vegetarian recipes for the festive season and all throughout the year:
