Chinese New Year Dogfood For Meiji�s 138 Dogs!

Yesterday Meiji collected 7 bags of dogfood to last through the Chinese New Year period. She still has leftover from the previous batch as she also supplements with rice. This sponsorship comes from our Food Fund, Andy Lew, Jeanie Tan Lai Fun and Kok Khee Wee.

In my previous phone conversation with Meiji, she says all her dogs have been faring very well lately. Hence, there has been no medical claims at all. On one occasion, one of her dogs had some tummy problem after eating too much durian and seemed ill. Meiji rushed him downhill to the vet in KL, but halfway through the journey, the dog recovered and seemed quite joyful getting a free car-ride. So, Meiji turned around and went back to Raub. That particular durian-gorging dog is fine!

However, Meiji’s jeep has been giving problems due to wear and tear, and often ends up at the workshop almost every week. Still, she says this jeep is very hardy and efficient for the rocky terrain up and down the hill.

Meiji sustains the dog sanctuary and her own needs through rubber-tapping. We help her dogs with our Medical Fund and Food Fund. She is currently looking after 138 dogs all by herself in her sanctuary which has no electricity and piped water save for the mountain stream. Meiji does not take in anymore new dogs now, especially as age is catching up. Most of her dogs are quite elderly.
