Remember Andrea? The ever-delightful little 12-year old who started writing to me last month after reading all my books? http://www.myanimalcare.org/2011/03/black-olive-and-cow-junior.html
We had a wonderful whole week of emailing where she asked me about puppy mills and everything else. Such an intelligent and completely adorable little girl...
Well, here's another email from her....
14/4/11 Hello!
I'm not sure if this is even the correct date. Anyway, I have something great to tell you!! my mum and I wen't to the Pet Shop today!YAY!! It smelt of doggy perfume.Mum didn't think much of it though... she said the puppies were too pampered. they did not even look at us and some of them barked fiercely at us. One of them, a female, tried to bite a small kid. I suppose I could understand cause they were only puppies... but still. My mum said she didn't wan't a over- pampered, screechy puppy. All the puppies looked very fierce. Suddenly my mum got a brainwave... she said she knew EXACTLY the place to look for dogs and puppies. So, we got into the car and I kept asking her where it is we were going but she just smiled and told me that I'd find out. It turned out to be PAWS! The shelter for dogs and cats! It smelled of doggies in there but I loved seeing all the dogs looking so happy that this might be their lucky day to get adopted. I even saw a Husky. The poor thing was too hot as Huskies are used to cold climate.Lucky for him, a man adopted him and put him in a cool place. I saw a dog fight with a Doberman and a Corgi. No one got hurt. My mum said it was best to adopt one than to buy one. In the Cat Section, I saw the cutest kitten ever!!! It was missing a leg but at least it was treated properly and it was healthy. I was in Animal Paradise! I was so sad when we had to leave. My mum and I had our eye on a puppy which looked like a mongrel. He was the cutest, most handsome puppy of them all. He was a sandy colour and he had soulful, bulgy, sad puppy eyes. It even said on his cage" I'M WAITING TO BE ADOPTED!" My mum said we weren't properly prepared yet cause we haven't told my grandma yet. You know, if she (my grandma) does not get told ahead about what we are going to do, she gets all worked up and stuff. I'm SO excited!
Andrea. I'm completely charmed by the exuberance of little Andrea. When she wrote to me last month, she had "adopted" two kittens from the neighbourhood and named them Cow Junior (after my Cow!) and Black Olive (whom she said looked like Vixey), but her maid took the kittens away after few days and that really broke her heart. But as with all happy children, they bounce back very quickly. She's been asking her parents if she could have some pets, and she told them everything she had learnt from my books and our email exchanges. Let's hope she gets her pets now. There are such wonderful people around (the young and the young-at-heart). It's still a wonderful world!
YAY!!
