Good times ahead for SPCA Selangor!

21 JAN 2013 – The 200 dogs and 150 cats currently homed in the SPCA Selangor will have much to look forward to this year thanks to the generosity of Pet World Marketing Sdn Bhd who has undertaken to sponsor their nutritional needs for the entire year. Based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the SPCA Selangor and Pet World Marketing Sdn Bhd, beginning January 2013, Pet World Marketing Sdn Bhd will donate both wet and dry food amounting to RM100,000.00 per annum.

Ms Christine Chin, Chairman of the SPCA Selangor said, �This gesture will go a long way in reducing our burden of raising funds to feed the more than 700 animals that pass through our shelter every month. While the public have been very generous, rising costs of living has resulted in a slowdown in monthlycontributions.�

Mr. Peter Lee, Business Development Manager of Pet World Marketing Sdn Bhd said, �We have always believed in being socially responsible and this is one small way that we can contribute to a deserving cause. The SPCA Selangor, like animal shelters all over the world, performs an admirable task that gives voice to gentle souls with no voice of their own.�

The premium pet food donated by Pet World Marketing Sdn Bhd will be delivered at the beginning of every month until December 2013. The pet food in the long run would give the shelter animals the higher nutritional value and will help to ensure that animals adopted are in good health and also have a stronger immunity against diseases.

SPCA Selangor is an animal welfare organisation based in Ampang Jaya, Selangor. The aim of the SPCA is to protect defenseless animals and to alleviate their suffering. We receive more than 700 unwanted, homeless or abused animals every month. We provide an adoption program, investigation of cruelty reports, humane education, assistance to community animal caregivers and run a dedicated, low-cost spay/ neuter clinic. We also lobby the Government and local municipals for humane treatment of animals and harsher penalities for perpetrators of crimes against animals.
