An Update From Imms Shelter In Ipoh

This is from Judy Chua:
The year end month has been a good month in terms of cash donations and also donations in kind. Grace Lim who happened to hear about the shelter from Carol when they were both at the vet, dropped by the shelter on X’mas day with lots of goodies for the dogs .. bags of dog kibbles and can food. Imm also received bags of free dog kibbles from a friend. The expenditure for dog food for both Nov and Dec is thus much lower than in previous months.
The cats too had their X’mas gift, a new cattery that’s brighter with a good size sun area & better drainage, thanks to SY and her siblings who sponsored the cost of converting a kennel space to the present cattery. The cats have also been given many can food treats in Dec to help them settle into their new home, hence the higher expense for cat food in Dec.
LY and CM also came to the rescue to sponsor urgently needed concrete work to prevent water flow into the shelter and also seepage underground causing soil erosion beneath. The shelter had two sinkholes episode in the past year. The unsealed road leading to the shelter was tarred in November (paid for by MCA) and this has caused rain water to flow into the shelter due to its lower elevation. Signs of soil eroison beneath a section of the new cattery due to water seepage was also noticeable. Thanks to LY and CM’s RM3k sponsorship, and also balance of the cattery sponsorship by SY and her siblings, the concrete work with proper drainage flow for rainwater was started and completed in Dec.
Imm also did not miss out on X’mas goodies. A friend paid for a new 2nd hand car for her. The car was registered in Imm’s name on 1 Dec. Imm’s old Kembara konked out months ago, and she had been using a borrowed car which she had to return in mid-Nov. The timing was perfect. It’s an auto-transmission car with an ample-sized boot for loading bags of dog kibbles. The AT drive also allows Imm to drive dogs to the vet by herself.2012 has been a good year for the shelter.
We started the year with an opening kitty balance of RM19,816 and finished the year with a balance of RM18,267, slightly lower than the opening balance but healthy nevertheless.

We are really happy to hear that Imm is doing well and the shelter’s finances are very healthy. We wish Imm and friends a very happy and another successful year of looking after the animals!
