Dear Dr….Warm greetings to you!
Am writing to you coz we desperately need your advice.
Last Wednesday (31/10/12), my friend (who looks after and feeds stray dogs also)told me about a very sick dog in an orphanage in Klang….We went to the centre and found a Rottweiler-mixed dog which looked emaciated…very thin indeed..he looked very sad, with eyes full of greenish dirt….and there were 2 big gaping wounds with maggots in the backside…..obviously the dog was not well looked after…it seemed he belongs to one of the orphans there…the dog needed immediate medical attention! Without thinking of other matters, we didn’t even think of taking photos ) we bundled the dog into my car and raced to catch the vet before he closed the clinic for the day……
Dr.put him on drip and treated the wounds…..After a few days’ observation ,Dr said the dog has kidney problem. The dog will eat a lot (after on drips), then he will vomit out….according to him it would be very costly to keep the dog as he will be required to be on drip and has to have a special expensive diet…the dog is still in the clinic….we are not rich and we are worried that this Saturday we have to take him from the clinic coz Dr. is closing his clinic from 10 Nov to 15 Nov…all dogs and cats will be discharged by this Saturday….
Indirectly Dr did hint to put down the dog the other day……so Dr. Chan what should we do…we cant afford to keep him in other clinics for treatment nor send him back to the orphanage(there are about another 6underfed and cared dogs..very sad and stressful indeed!)..what should we do with theRottweiler…please, please your advice is urgently needed…
Yours sincerely,
Amy

Dear Dr. Chan ….Thanks for the reply.
This morning, my friend found out that 2 dogs at the orphanage have tick fever so we suspected the Rottweiler has tick fever too.
Icontacted Dr just now and he has already started treating the dog for tick fever. The dog has bad jaundice now and his stomach is bloatedbut he is eating well.
Dr and his staff will be going for company trip for a week so the clinic will be closed. He has asked me to take back the dog as there will be no one in the clinic to look after him.
* Dr. we do require fund to pay and hope you can help us with the fees. The amount I’ve to find out from Dr afterwards.
* Due to the fact above, we intend to shift the dog to another clinic to continue treatment.
Hoping to hear from you soon Dr….Thanks.
Yours sincerely,
Amy

Dear Dr. Chan,
I do hope you can still remember the sick Rottweiler (from the orphanage in Klang) which was very sick because of tick fever and 2 big maggot-infested gaping wounds in the rear. Time flies…it has been quite some time since I last told you about the dog.
The dog was discharged from the second clinic although the wounds were not totally healed yet as the charges were running daily. The wounds will take time to heal and they only need to be cleaned and dressed so I found a fosterer to help out.
Due to financial constraint, I waited till 18 December (pension was paid out on 17 Dec.) to settle the bills from the 2 clinics which amounted to a substantial sum.
The medical subsidy form has been filled and sent. I sincerely hope your organization will consider to help to subsidize the fees paid to the clinics.
Thanking you in anticipation,
Yours sincerely,
Amy
