It's been a very busy day, mostly in making arrangements for Horsey.
Joanne is agreeable on the amputation for Horsey but she needed a fosterer to look after Horsey for post-surgical care.
Lydia (bless her kind heart) has responded now, and will look after Horsey for about one month until she (Horsey) is well enough to be rehomed. Lydia has a lot of experience in taking care of animals with special needs. She also does physiotherapy for animals with paresis and paralysis. I can't think of a better fosterer than Lydia! Nor a more loving one.
Joanne has given me her word that she will find an adopter for Horsey.
I have arranged for Horsey's surgery for either Tuesday or Wednesday at our panel vet, depending on when Joanne can bring her in. The sooner, the better, as Joanne says there is already swelling on the leg now. We do not want infection to set in and cause more complications.
It is sometimes very difficult being the "go-between", becoming a "bridge" that connects people and their animals in order to make things happen.
Lydia needs my word that Horsey will be rehomed after the one month and I need Joanne's word that she will rehome Horsey.
For fosterers, the greatest fear is "dumping". A fosterer would, out of goodwill, agree to help with fostering, but very often, fostering turns out to be "adopting". That's what happened with Tiger and Joanie, for my case. The rescuers didn't want them back and I had to adopt them.
If everyone of us play our part RESPONSIBLY and keep our word, no matter how small, we can ensure that things will move smoothly and at the end of the day, the animal benefits.
Now that we've got Lydia to foster Horsey, we've got the vet to do the surgery, let's all help Joanne look for an adopter for Horsey. I know it is not easy, so let's give her a hand, shall we?
Let's give Horsey a good start to her new life now. With three legs, she can still have a happy life. Lydia knows of quite a few three-legged animals who are now doing very well in loving homes.
As promised, we will subsidise Horsey's surgical procedure. Joanne will also raise some funds from her circle of friends.
Let's work together for the animals!
Here's one thing that we can all do - pray for a successful surgery for Horsey - that'll be the first step now.
Thank you!
