A Safe Christmas And A Secure Future- The Greatest Gift Of All

As the year draws to a close, were delighted to share how your support has ensured that so many animals are safe this Christmas and facing a more secure future.
Kanmani, a green iguana, was rescued from a rubbish disposal area. A victim of the illegal wildlife trade and abandonment, she was starving, sick and facing certain death.
With proper care, Kanmani is now curious, active and full of life once again!
Kanmani is just one of the many victims of the illegal wildlife trade now enjoying a second chance at life at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC).
Boltz, a giant Asian pond turtle, has made an amazing recovery throughout 2012 under the care of the AWRC.
Boltz was run over by a truck in late 2011, an accident which shattered his shell and caused huge blood loss, and has been under critical care ever since. Its taken a year of painstaking treatment and specialist care, and now Boltz is ready for release!
We are looking forward to releasing him into the wilds of Malaysia as soon as we can.
Jas, a monitor lizard, was in big trouble when we rescued him. With a fishing hook lodged deeply in his throat, he faced a slow death from infection and starvation. We couldnt let that happen, so we operated on Jas at our wildlife hospital to remove the hook. Jas pulled through and was soon returned to the wild.
He is just one of the hundreds of native animals that your support has enabled us to rescue this year.
These two little star tortoises were being illegally sold in Singapore and were rescued in a sting operation by ACRES just this month.
They were cruelly smuggled into Singapore, but thankfully are now facing a safe future, no longer in the cruel grip of the illegal wildlife trade.
And our work continues to have far-reaching effects for other animals too.
Dolphins can feel safer in the oceans, due to our on-going efforts campaigning against the capture of dolphins from the wild for marine parks. We will continue to call for the release of the 24 wild-caught dolphins held captive by Resorts World Sentosa, and do everything it takes to make sure this exploitation and cruelty remains in the spotlight.
Animals in Malaysian zoos are facing a brighter future due to the continuing Malaysian Zoo Animal Welfare Programme that ACRES initiated and spearheaded.
And the younger generation, inspired by our education and outreach programmes this past year, are more of aware of how they can make a better world for animals, with many of them blossoming into dedicated animal advocates!
The problems that so many animals are facing, day after day, are great. But, thankfully, so is the will of people like you to change things. And ACRES will always be there to help animals in need, endangered and common alike, and no matter how hopeless their future seems and how much effort it takes. Every animal and every worthy cause is important to us.
Please consider making a donation today (http://www.acres.org.sg/support/donatenow.html) to help us continue helping victims of exploitation, abuse and neglect, as well as those wild animals who simply need a little help sometimes.
We can do so much more for animals in 2013, but only with your support.
Wishing you a very happy and blessed Christmas and New Year celebration, and a fantastic 2013!
Please also help to share this post!
Yours sincerely,
Louis Ng
