Spaying Subsidy For A Rescued Female Dog (Mah Chun Hueys)

Wow…it is very expensive to get a dog spayed in other states! But as per our subsidy policy, we have subsidised RM100 for this case below. Klang Valley folks are really lucky we can choose more “economically-priced” clinics which sometimes even offer free boarding for rescue cases.

Hi Dr Chan.

Good morning!

I’ve got a piece of good news and a bit of sad news today. Remember the pregnant female dog I emailed you the other day (http://myanimalcare.org/2012/08/23/help-needed-for-dog-in-tg-tokong-penang-mah-chun-hueys/andhttp://myanimalcare.org/2012/09/19/updates-on-the-two-dogs-in-penang-mah-chun-hueys/)? The sad news is the puppies didn’t make it (no one knows where she gave birth but one neighbour said it was in a drain and was washed away since it was rainy season). The good news is, the lady I mentioned in the second post told me that her brother is living with her now and agrees to help care for the dogs so she can now keep her. While some other groups have offered to post adoption notice online, she’s now planning to bring the dog for spaying. Since she does need some support financially she gave me a call. She said she’s more than happy to bear half of the spaying cost. So I told her I’ll try applying from AnimalCare and then the balance I’ll share with her. The spaying and 3-day boarding is RM395 for a dog this size. I’ve told her all the policies about receipts and others and she totally understands it. So I’ll work with her and once done, I’ll fill up the form and post to you. OK?She also said it’s likely her relatives will help chip in for the cost.

She has spent the last 2-3 weeks trying to befriend the dog. This dog, although timid, is quite cautious!

If she ends up keeping the dog, I’ve also agreed to sponsor a pack of dog food for her on a monthly basis (or bi-monthly depending how fast her dogs finish the food) to ease her financial burden.

Hopefully this will work out well!

- Huey
