Helping needy rescuers with money or food donation is not actually within the mission of AnimalCare as our resources are very limited and we can only focus on providing medical help (spay-neuter and medical treatment) for stray animals, especially to needy smalltime rescuers who face a financial burden in settling vet bills for their rescues.
Within these two years, I have, on my own initiative, raised funds to help rescuers like Meiji, Phaik Imm and recently, Susan, in areas other than spay-neuter and medical treatments.
As such, I am now receiving requests from people who are asking for help for some other needy rescuers.
I have discussed this with my small team of volunteers, and we have decided that since our resources are limited, we have to focus on our primary mission in providing spay-neuter and medical needs and doing the education component, which I believe, is important for the long-term wellbeing of animals in general.
However, I would be more than happy to publicise requests for food donations if any individual would like to take up the initiative to organise this help for other rescuers in future, including Meiji and Phaik Imm.
I would do the publicity for your noble deed but would require the following from you:
1. A write-up about the rescuer (if not already previously highlighted on this blog). 2. PHOTOS of the animals and the rescuer. 3. Your relevant details (to facilitate the donation drive).
This information will be publicised on this blog but the onus will be on the respondents to check on the authenticity of the request and respondents will liaise directly with the person concerned.
Let's work together for the animals by doing what we can, within our capacity, as best we can.
Thank you for your kind understanding.
A note for sharing: This is my personal guideline when I commit myself to helping others (human or animal) : If all else fails, am I able to do it myself? If the answer is yes, I will do it. If not, I will think twice before making the commitment! While it is indeed wonderful to work together on any worthy project, the bottom line is, one cannot rely too much on others. One needs to be self-reliant. We can always request for help (which is what I do, too) but we cannot EXPECT it. If help comes, it is indeed a blessing and we must be thankful for it. If it doesn't, we should not indulge in finger-pointing. We have to take full responsibility for our own actions. This is reality. It is better to accept this reality than to be disappointed in life.
