With A Little Bit Of Steamed Veges And

This morning I was up really early, so I thought I’d try my luck with the complete recipe for BARF.

I steamed some carrot, pumpkin and celery (all organic), then blended them with some water.

On the left is the blended veges and on the right, raw chicken meat, skin and liver, with all the juice mixed with a wee bit of the blended veges. I figured my mistake had always been to put too much veges (too “much” for cats, that is), so this time, I put only a wee bit. After all, how much fermented plant-food is there in the stomach of a herbivor like a chicken, right? There was some vege juice, but I masked this with the “juice” from the chicken and liver. Gross? Oh well…

The only thing missing in the above is bone. That would be the next step. Apparently, the bone marrow has something very nutritious for cats and dogs, and it is destroyed by cooking. Has to be eaten raw, I was told.

And I even chopped up a blade of wheatgrass and mixed it to the food. So I have greens as well.

Yes, I actually planted these. For someone who cannot plant anything, I consider this a great success.

Now, testing time…

Tabs loved it!!

Bunny too, and Cleo was a little bit confused. I thought she was going to reject it, but…

She ate it as well!

The rest didn’t want any of it.

By the way, that’s Raven in the green box. But Tabs has not been welcoming at all. In fact, Tabs growled at her and attacked her. So did Cleo. Guess it’s one princess too many. I’m just waiting for the fur on her neck to grow back a bit more and I should be able to send her to her new home then. Maybe it’s all destined, Tabs doesn’t seem to like Raven at all. Maybe she finds her a threat to her “baby” position.

Tiger, no?

No.
