Yesterday, we received a lady named Susan Monk’s email on the plight of 20+ dogs at Bandar Utama construction site. We are very touch by Susan’s kindness and her effort in feeding these dogs for the past 3 months and now, she is very worry about the future of these dogs because of the construction work for the housing project is going to start very soon and all these dogs have to leave. As such, Susan hopes that someone or the public can extend their help in either to foster or adopt these pitiful dogs before they are caught by the dog catcher who will end these poor dogs life in a very cruel way. As Susan has to fork out her own money to feed the 20+ dogs, we appeal to the public to help sponsor the 2 dogs that we will take in at some amount of money per dog per months. Please contact Second Chance at info@2ndchance-kennel.com if you are interested to help. Below are her email to Second Chance :-
Dear Mrs Lai,
I hope you are well. My name is Susan and I spoke to you on the phone last week regarding the 20+ dogs at this construction site in Bandar Utama.
I came to know about the plight of these dogs from a friend who informed me that there dozens of dogs inside the walls of the construction site that were literally starving to death. Apparently the management at site gave orders to not allow anyone to feed the dogs in the hope that the dogs would just simply walk out in search of food. That did not happen.
I managed to get permission to enter the site to see for myself the real situation and it was a heartbreaking sight. The dogs were emaciated, just skin and bones. Most of them had wounds and old battle scars from fighting for scraps of food. The food that we brought with us was devoured within minutes and the water they drank was from puddles of muddy water, left after a rainfall.
There were in total 60+ dogs but all the puppies and many adult dogs died due to illness and starvation. Now there remains this 20+ dogs trapped inside the construction site. No one knows they exist except the workers and now a handful of people.
My friend and I go everyday to bring food and fresh water for the dogs, for nearly 3 months and they have grown steadily stronger and friendlier.
We believe that all animals matter and deserve compassion, comfort, happiness and respect and they do not have the voice that we have to speak up and bring help to them.
I have contacted many animal shelters, all rescue groups and organizations and yet no one is actually making any real effort to assist me, until I spoke with you.
I am currently getting assistnce from My Animal Care with the spaying/neutering of these dogs and also with food for the dogs.
I fear for the safety of these dogs as the developers witll be launching the housing project soon, and want the dogs out or dog catchers will be called and that would ultimately seal their fate.
I know you agreed to take 2 dogs but I’m hoping and praying that you can please help me to save some of these dogs.
I have asked friends and relatives to help with the funding and I can pay upfront 3 months at RM50 per dog per month.
I am committed to these dogs and I’m hoping that somehow I can find safe places or shelters for the rest.
I thank you for considering my appeal and also for agreeing to take the 2 dogs.
I fervently hope that you will be able to help me and we can work together to help these unfortunate animals. They were born there and have been living there under harsh conditions all their lives.
They deserve a second chance.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any enquiries.
Warm Regards
Susan Monk
