Dear All,
Over the past week, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has been receiving feedback following the news report of the case of the lost dog being put down. I have personally gone through all the feedback, including those online.
The SPCA would like to send our sincere apologies to Irene and her family, and everyone else who has been affected by this extremely upsetting incident. I have spoken at length with Irene personally to convey our apology and sympathies.
This was an unfortunate oversight by staff and those involved have been counselled. The full circumstances have been looked into and we are actively taking measures to prevent any further such incidents.
In the spirit of openness and accountability, the SPCA will move forward to continue to serve the animals and our community and we welcome all feedback.
Sincerely,
Corinne Fong
Executive Director
Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
NB: The above letter was sent to The Straits Times forum last week.
