YG posted a comment on the blind Shih Tzu. I thought all of you might like to read it:
Poor the Shih Tzu, how on earth has such a cruel person. When he was healthy and cute, the owner wanted him but when he turned old and blind, the owner simply get rid of him. Poor boy.
I myself have a blind cat, which I named him Ah-Wong. He was born perfect (his mother was a stray and gave birth to him and his other siblings at my home) but at the age of one month, a stray male cat came and snatched him away. He bit the poor little thing on the head and carried it away and which I immediately gave a chase. Knowing that it would slow him down, the male cat abandoned the ah-wong at the middle of the chase.
Ah-Wong was crying painfully when I held him up. There was a lot of bleed on the road. In face he has lost a lot of blood. To cut the story short, when he has recovered, we found out that he has lost his sight and this was confirmed by the vet. He has stopped feeding on his mother milk after the incident, it just seem that he has forgotten how to suck milk from his mother breast.
At first, his mother would still took care of him (cleaning and caressing him) but after sometime, the mother just ignored him. I wasn't sure why, it might due to his blindness in which he start behaving strangely, unlike his other siblings.
Fastforward a bit, after about six months after loosing his sight, ah-wong faces another problem. He has seizure and it was quite serious. That was the first time, we witnessed a cat on seizure, as I thought this only happens to human. We did some research on the internet and also took him to see the vet. The vet prescribe a kind of medication (known as penababeton) in which he has to take it until death. The pill will control and minimize his seizure problem. He would still suffers from this problem about two or thrice a week.
Now Ah-Wong is already 3 1/2 years old and he is a happy cat. What makes him so special is that he has stopped meowing after his seizure started. I believe that he has forgotten that he is a cat and indeed he is just as we are, a human. He talks a lot when communicate with us and he does it just like how a human toddler will.
We keep Ah-Wong and his another sibling, a sister (she was already spayed to prevent multiplying).
Three bows to YG, for looking after Ah-Wong.
