The mountain.
The trek.
The challenge.
The children.
Come 28th Dec 2012, four youths, (from left) Hillary Kon, Mabel Soo, Marco Soo and Brian Goh will take up the challenge of scaling the highest peak in Crocker Range of Borneo, Mount Kinabalu, 4095m (13,435ft), for a noble cause – to raise funds for the animals who come through AnimalCare.
Mt Kinabalu has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage status and is protected under the Mt Kinabalu National Park in Sabah State.
They will be accompanied by their parents and family friends. They have been preparing and training for this arduous journey for months at Gasing Hills and soon at Bukit Kledang in Menglembu, Ipoh and they are all mentally and physically ready for the fun, the challenge and the deed.
Details of the climb:
Climb startson 28 Dec morning and will reach Laban Rata in the evening,. Take a short rest (6 to 8 hours) and then start to climb for the second leg from 2am on 29 Dec to the peak (Low’s Peak whichis the name of the British surveyor I think) and we will descend to the Mt Kinabalu park on the same day of 29 Dec after reaching the peak brtween 6 to 9am of 29 Dec.
It is the children’s hope they may raise a significant amount of funds for the animals through their effort.
We hope our readers will support their noble intentions and contribute generously towards this cause. All your donations will go to the AnimalCare Fund for our ongoing efforts in helping the animals.
