When we S.O.S.-ed for a fosterer to take over Poh Suan’s kittens, Ain volunteered. One of the kittens came down with parvo virus but today, all three are alright.
Let’s hear it from Ain, who is fostering the kittens with the help of her husband, Nizam:
Dear Dr.Chan,
Sorry for the late reply.
My husband and I fostered three kittens rescued by Poh Suan. Both of us are working, but my husband’s workplace are more flexible, so he brings them to his office. He feed them at day, while I will do the night shift. All three were healthy and drinking well.
On Thursday 2am, we were woken by kittens’ cries and found out that the only male kitten in the sibling had yellowish with blood liquid poop. He haddiarrhea and it was bad. We cleaned all three and noticed that the male was weak. We fed everyone but the male kitten does not want to drink. I open up my rainbow poop guide and it was alarming. My husband sent them to vet and vet told that the male kitten is FPV-positive. Vet prescribe Vetri-DMG to boost all three kitten’s immune system, meanwhile CO-AmoxiClav, and Lysine to combat the virus. Vet also gave us a list of Animal Hospital nearby incase kitten’s condition worsen. We disinfect the whole house and quarantine the kittens since we have other household cats as well. We also need to disinfect our hands before and after handling those kittens.
On Friday, the male kitten starts to pick up his appetite but he did not pooped til Saturday. He starts to play with his siblings, meows, and ask for our palm to be suckled. Actually, all three of them loves to suckle our palm before they fall asleep.
As for today, I can say the kitten has recovered 90%. His appetite is very good. He drinks about 60ml of Nubian’s Goat’s Milk a day, unlike 3 days ago where he barely drinks. His poop is half solid with healthy colour.
Attached are pictures of them with their clothes on. I made that for those kittens too keep them warm when my husband bring them to his office.
I also attached the medical bill as well for the medical subsidy application. Megaa told me that you were worried about my financial as treatment can be rocket high. So kind of you. Please don’t worry.
Thank you for your generous help. I really appreciate it.
We cannot thank Ain and Nizam enough for taking over and looking after the three OPS-kittens so well. Thank you very much, Ain. We will be more than happy to subsidise the medical treatment for the kitten who was afflicted with parvo virus.
An anonymous donor also contributed the Nubian goat’s milk and disinfectant for the kittens and for Ain upon hearing that one kitten had parvo virus. We thank her very much for her kindness too.
