Updates On Pak Din And His Dogs

Chew sent the following updates on Pak Din, after a visit in mid-August:

I paid a visit to Pak Din to find out how he’s doing and also to give him some “Duit Raya” (courtesy of the donors) in view of the festive season. Pak Din has been suffering from diabetes and is under treatment. However recently his blood sugar was found to be very low and the doctor has advised him to take care of his diet. The clinic also advised him to purchase a blood sugar monitoring device which I have also asked him to purchase with money from our funds.
Sad news is he lost two of his dogs, ‘Wong Choy’ the father of his puppies and ‘Woolie’, one of the youngsters. They left home and never returned. Since Wong Choy and Wollie was missing he uses less dog pellets and always tries to feed them rice with chicken necks which he gets from the wet market for a few dollars. I asked him if he needed dog pellets and he said he still had ample supply.
On looking for job as musician so far nothing could materialize. He had a few offers but could not followup as he did not have transport to attend practice sessions.

Pak Din needs a small fridge to keep his foodstuff as his current one has rusted badly. Anyone with old fridge to give away please let me know (jenahakchew@gmail.com).

Pak Din sents his best wishes and many thanks for all your continuous support.

I asked Chew if Pak Din needed food for his dogs and cats, but Chew said Pak Din still has enough food and he is also feeding them rice and chicken, which is even better.

Pak Din looks after the cats and dogs in the vicinity. Since he does not have a job nor a house (he lives in a shack), we have been helping him by providing petfood and also subsidies for the medical bills of his animals. All the animals under his care are neutered (at Klinik Kembiri). When his animals are sick, they are brought to the vet for treatment.

Early in March this year, thanks to our reader, Connie James, Pak Din’s house was upgraded to a more live-able condition:http://myanimalcare.org/2012/03/27/pak-dins-house-is-all-upgraded-now/

Pak Din pays the bills for his animals with his own money and only requests help whenever he is really short of funds, which isn’t often.

We salute Pak Din for his big heart. Though he doesn’t even have enough for himself, he endeavours to take care of the neglected animals around him.
