As elsewhere we hear of sad stories about cruelty to animals, right here, in our own backyard we have friends who live by Mahatma Gandhi's adage, "Be the change you want to see in the world".
My friends in the Metta Karuna Rescue Team have been doing TNR and rehoming neutered animals for many years now.
Ever since AnimalCare was formed, we have collaborated, complementing each other in what we do best.
Agnes, Yuen Foon, Sumitra are all from the Metta Karuna Team.
Here's some updates from Yuen Foon:
Yesterday had been a very fruitful day.
8+ am, I went to pick up Suhaida's cat (they have been caging her since the day she came back from the Dr See's plc after having diarrhoea), fetched Suhaida and sister and cat straight to Dr See in Sri Petaling. Dr See gave her a clean bill of health. The cat will be spayed today or spayed yesterday (depending if Dr has time). Thanks for the sponsorship.
Wong2 was neutered at See's on Friday 27 May, thanks to AnimalCare for sponsoring the neutering. I picked Wong2 from See's and headed straight for Bkt Bintang to fetch Sumitra, Amy and Amy's aunt (Amy and family fostered Wong2 and Rosie). Then all 4 humans and 2 cats went on an exciting journey to the outskirts of Selangor to Kuang, the new home of Wong2 and Rosie. We reached Kuang at noon. The adopter is Ms Rena. Her mother was so excited to receive her 2 "anak". She even made a new toilet and bathroom for her "anak2". Their house is on tanah lot in a kampung in Kuang. The house is very2 big with a large fenced compound. In the same compound is the house of Rena's grandma. We are very happy that Wong2 and Rosie have a big house and fenced compound and family members who are so happy to welcome them into their lives.
Wong2 was a bit scared but Rosie stole the elder sister's heart. Rosie let big sister carry her around the house and she even "talked" to the sister. Rosie is a chatter box. We were at first worried if the new owner would find Rosie too noisy. But Rena's mother assures us that Rosie will make the big house livelier. "It is too quiet here, especially at night.", said Rena's mum.
After setting up 2 cages (they bought a cage from us) and the other formalities like signing of forms and teaching them abt feeding, pooing and peeing, we left Kuang at abt 1.20+pm. This is the first time Amy has fostered a rescued cat for so long from small until spay/neuter, so she was rather reluctant to let them go. Sumitra kept reminding her that if she lets go of them, she can save more strays from the streets. It was good that she and aunty had followed us to the adopter's home and she can see for herself that the new family can give Wong2 and Rosie a better home.
Rena's mum gave RM50 to us. We told her that we will hand over the money to AnimalCare so that AnimalCare can help more stray animals. Amy will bank into your a/c. Rena and family thank AnimalCare for bringing 2 "anak2" into their lives. They are so surprised that there are such good things existing -- free animals (toilet-trained, castrated, defleaed, dewormed), delivery until doorstep, free starter kit consisting of a toilet tray, water bowl, feeding bowl, home-made hammock and some food. Our immediate kamma -- lots of energy and happiness Our network of animal loving friends will definitely expand, not to mention our furry friends.
It was our friend Lim Lay Chin, who promoted Wong2 and Rosie to her colleague, Rena of EPF. Have to curi2 promote the animals in the lift, then copy the pix in a thumb drive and then go to Rena's dept to show her the pix. EPF is very strict, all personal e-mails are not allowed. This is Lay Chin's first promotion where we are very certain that the animals are in good hands.
Thank you KY.
P/S: Attached is a photo of Wong2 and Rosie with their new family. From Left to right. Rena's mum carrying Rosie, Rena carrying Wong2 and Rena's elder sister.
Thank you, Rena and family, for giving Rosie and Wong2 a safe and loving home. Thank you for contributing to our fund too. May you all be blessed in life.
"Be the change you want to see in the world", friends. Never mind what is happening elsewhere, never mind what people say about what we do, and never think that helping one or two animals is not good enough. It IS. From being strays on the street, Rosie and Wong2 now have a happy home with Rena and family. And don't worry too much about the future. WHO can predict it? Do our best in the present moment and leave the rest. Have faith in the universe. Everything happens for a reason. As long as we have done our best and have the animals' best interest at heart, that would be good enough.
