Two days ago, my friend, Julia, asked if I'd like to adopt a rescued bunny.

Yes, a rabbit.

Apparently, Julia's friend had rescued an imported rabbit from his neighbourhood.  He had asked his neighbours, but nobody knew who this rabbit belonged to.

So, Julia fostered the rabbit while I helped look for an adopter.

I thought I might adopt him, but with Cow and Bunny being so territorial, and rabbits being so easily scared, that might not be a wise thing to do.

I asked my students, and one of them, Prteepan, said he was interested, provided his mum would let him.  Mum said no initially, but the next day, Prteepan managed to convince his mum.  However, he would view the rabbit first.

So, this evening, we all went to see the rabbit....

Julia and her family has named the (male) rabbit "Yinyong".

Julia's daughter, Crystal, holding Yinyong, the rabbit.

Crystal handing over Yinyong to Prteepan.

That's MaiMai, the family dog.  MaiMai was also rescued.

Prteepan didn't need a second thought - he's going to adopt Yinyong.
And his mum says he can have a pair too - yes, one more rabbit.

It so happened that we're in "rabbit season", so to speak.  Another friend has just rescued some rabbits from a terrible ordeal.  So, he's putting them all up for adoption.  Prteepan wants a female rabbit, so we'll get one, get her spayed first, before handing her over to Prteepan.

Ming-Yi with Yinyong, and MaiMai is attention-seeking...

It must have been more than 40 years since I had rabbits...I don't even remember how it feels like to hold one again.

They are so soft and cuddly, and so fragile, unlike our robust cats!

The attention seeker...

Ok, ok....you get a cuddle, too.

Julia holding Yinyong with MaiMai looking on, or rather, sniffing on.

MaiMai was given up by his former owner because the owner's mum had kept poor MaiMai in a cage without letting him out for one whole year.  The owner finally decided to rehome MaiMai.  MaiMai's first name was "Bobby", actually.  Julia's family renamed him "Siew Mai" and that has become MaiMai now.

MaiMai is pampered to the core now, in Julia's home.  He is KING of all he surveys and as in all poodles, he gets his way in everything.

Julia says Yinyong plays with MaiMai and is not afraid of him.

Yinyong is also so well-trained that he goes back to his cage to pee and poo.  He's also incredibly clean and very easy to manage.  "Definitely cleaner than MaiMai," Julia says.

Julia has also brought Yinyong for a check-up at our panel vet on her own.  There is a bruise in his leg and there is colloidal silver (the medication) for it.

Yinyong loves to eat kangkong.  Crystal buys organic kangkong for him.  But Yinyong's favourite food is cucumber.

Chomp, chomp...

Delicious, yes?

Yes!

Prteepan will take Yinyong home tomorrow.

And as we were driving home, Prteepan called to say his brother also wants to adopt a male rabbit.  So, that would mean, we're going to get three rescued rabbits adopted!

What a great start to our THIRD year!

Three rabbits, one saved from the street, two saved from near-death.  All three going to rabbit-loving homes.
