In the spirit of Malaysia’s Hari Merdeka, here’s some good news from Sabah: 183,000 hectares (700 sq km) of forest zoned for logging concessions has been reclassified as protected areas. These areas are key habitat for endangered orangutans, Bornean clouded leopards, Sumatran rhinos, and pygmy elephants!
