This morning, Bushytail will be going in for surgery to remove her two infected mammary glands (mastitis) and the infected uterus (pyometra).
Initially, the surgery for the mastitis was supposed to be delayed until next week when she is (hopefully) stronger after a course of antibiotics and IV-drips, but upon discovery of the pyometra yesterday evening, the surgery simply cannot be delayed anymore.
Bushytail is in a very critical state as the infections have resulted in her being very pale and dehydrated. Her chances of pulling through is only 50 percent. She would need all the kind prayers and positive vibrations we can send to her today as she goes through the surgery at 10am. The only consolation is that after being on drips for a few hours, she appeared to have perked up a wee bit by evening.
I informed Sudhamma, her feeder, yesterday, about the latest prognosis, and told her that as Bushytail's primary caregiver, her thoughts would have a very profound influence on Bushytail's chances of recovery.
Sudhamma later sent me this text message:
Bushytail is a very strong cat. She has never complained whenever she was sick. I've known her for 2 years now. Her ears had a bad infection, but over the years, she managed to to fight it. A male cat bit here and her wound healed over time. I strongly believe she can fight this. She is a very nice and "manja" cat, the nicest I've ever met compared to other stray cats. She has never complained about pain, as you could see today. May she get well soon.
Looks like Bushytail has been through so much, living the life of a stray.
May she come through the surgery successfully.
Bushytail
Her five babies - one is very weak.
Please do pray for Bushytail and her babies.
Thank you.
