Bushytail's surgery went unexpectedly well today. There was no messy bleeding and her PCV was good enough, so blood transfusion was not even necessary. She was also very stable throughout the entire surgery. That, is a very good sign.
However, the vets could not remove all of the infected parts as the infection of the mammary glands had spread down to the other glands as well. To remove all would mean there would not be enough skin to pull together for suture.
The pyometra was successfully removed (which also means she is now spayed).
Now, she is on antibiotics and will be dependent on it to combat the rest of the remaining infection of the other mammary glands.
Bushytail, after the operation.
She is on drips and the vets have also inserted two drainage tubes for the rest of the infection to drain out.
The vets have done everything they can for Bushytail. Now, it is totally up to her own body to heal, for us to send our loving wishes to her, and for the Universe to do what's best.
Get well soon, Bushytail. Your kittens are waiting for you.
