On 25th February 2010, we took out 23 puppies due to be euthanised at the Selayang Pound. In collaboration with MDDB, these puppies were sent for treatment and those who survived were subsequently rehomed.
Sad to say, many of the puppies did not survive despite being given the necessary treatment at our panel vets. Most of them died of tick fever, distemper, diarrhoea, etc., diseases that afflict street animals.
It drove home the point that stray animals lead such a horrible and suffering life on the streets. If they do not die on the street, they are captured by the councils (when people complain) and they die in the pounds, either of diseases or they are euthanised.
The solution - CNRM, please. That would be the long-term solution. Capturing and killing will NOT solve the problem.
As for the Selayang puppies, one of the survivors was Senior White. I had initially named him Snappy White as he was one of the two Snappy ones. The two Snappies were also the biggest of the whole lot. Sadly, many of the younger puppies died, either at the clinic or after they were adopted. They had already had underlying diseases to begin with.

Transporting 23 puppies out of the pound in the back seat of my daughter's MyVi. They were all due to be euthanised.
(The dark grey one had no less than 300 ticks on her that day, but she was treated and eventually adopted by one of our vets!! We called her Ms Husky.)
PAWS offered shelter for them, and we took the sickly-looking ones to our panel vet for a check-up and treatment that evening itself (never delay treatment for animals). Our vets extended their working hours for all the puppies that evening - we finished at almost 10pm. This photo shows Snappy White. He had to be muzzled because he snapped at everyone!
The night of the rescue, from the pound to the clinic, from lying on the cold cement floor with no proper food to a comfortable towel with fresh food and water, from death-row to a chance to live again.
I made daily visits to check on all the puppies. Snappy White grew out of his snappiness and I renamed him Senior White.
MDDB did the rehoming of the surviving puppies and Senior White was adopted and renamed Milky Kiai.

His name is: Milky Kiai (taken the family's surname! Iban heritage). - Grown up/growing into a nice big dog! - He practically rules the whole front garden! Here's some pics of him!
