Medical Subsidy For Putih, Suspected FIP-Case (Maslinda Abd Talibs)

We have subsidised RM123 for Putih’s treatment. Putih passed away yesterday of suspected FIP.

From Maslinda Abd Talib:

The cat that passed away yesterday is putih. she was with me for few months, if you can remember, her sister Pendek is also with me. i initially help them to foster from a friend of mine who undergoing a transplant, shes from johore and no one in her house that she can trust to take care of the cats. i help to foster 2, putih & pendek. since that friend was not doing too good at this moment even after the transplant, i adopted putih after pendek passed away.
on sunday, i notice a wound in her hind leg. as i thought it was a normal cut (she is mischievous and like to climb) so i jus applied iodine and wound protector. she did not eat on sunday. on monday she starts to have nose discharge and little bit of drooling. on tuesday she was brought to vet. tuesday morning itself she starts drooling quite heavily.
when was told about the symptom and vet saw the wound, it was highly suspected that it’s suggestive of FIP. FIP do attack on the respiratory system and also at the lymph node. in her case, it attacks the lymph nodes that is situated at the hind leg. and vet noticed that she only has one lymph node left, on the opposite leg (unwound leg). the treatment plan is to initially prescribed her with doxy to see if the flu gets better plus IV drip. she was also start to hav jaundice as the upper eyelid is start yellowing
Wednesday:
the doxy is not better and the next day she was given steroids ( i think it’s current standard treatment for FIP/suspected FIP cases). still no improvement. she’s not eating as well and it’s hard to be hand fed coz she gags everytime the vet tried. she also starts panting and have difficulty in breathing and liver function does not look good as well
Thursday:
The vet said putih had vomitted blood in the morning and suffers fromhaemorrhagein the liver. there’s few red spots on her belly. clotting meds was given via injection to help stop the haemorrhage but it does not work. in the evening, while on my way to the vet, i received a second call that says putih had passed away
As this is highly suspected FIP case, i am now in process of disinfecting the cats area of the house. fortunately i quarantined putih once i saw the wound.
Thank you to animalcare for subsidizing her treatment.
thanks
regards
mas
