In the Chinese culture, there is an age-old practice of “life liberation” where animals bound for slaughter are purchased and released so that they would be “free”. My concern is, they should be released into an environment which is safe in which they can live out their natural lives, not into an environment which is not suitable at all for them or worse, where they would be re-captured and re-sold.
Here is something I wrote 3 years ago about this practice:https://sites.google.com/site/kindnesstoanimalsinc/wisdom-of-releasing-animals
“Life liberation”, if practised, must be done with wisdom. In today’s world, unscrupulous traders would do anything for the sake of quick profit.
