ATTENTION BANGKOK AREA RESIDENTS

SOI SAM NEEDS A HOME!

Copy of the note sent to Soi Dog:
I first found Soisam as we have called him in Soi 3 (sam in Thai) of our village last Saturday. He meowed at me when I passed and I sat down and patted him for around 5 mins. I’d noticed he limped towards me but did not immediately see his wound. After seeing his injury I knew he needed some help. However when I came back from my short journey outside the village I could not find him again.

Two days later I went looking again late in the evening and sure enough he was still in the same soi. I saw flies on his wound, not a good sign. With Aom’s help we took him to our local vet to get treatment.

He was operated on late on Tuesday 16th, where his wound was cleaned and dead cells removed. The vet decided stitches were not necessary and that a daily wound dressing would suffice.

We have visited him the last 2 days and my initial judgement of him as a friendly cat used to people seems to be correct. Although initially and understandably a bit scared by the new environment he finds himself in, he happily sat on my knee by his own choice 2 days ago and yesterday was rubbing his head against both myself and Aom.

The vet reckons he is between 4 and 5 years of age. He will also need his wound dressed for approximately 14 days until it has healed. She also suggested that, to save cost, he could be taken back home where we could feed him medication and bring him for daily dressing. Nonetheless, with 6 adult cats and 8 kittens aged between 2 and 4 months who just started their vaccinations, we could not risk taking him in for obvious health reasons. His general health could also be improved but that would be normal for any street cat. A foster home, or better still a permanent one, would be ideal for this beautiful and good natured cat.

We took some video of him yesterday (19/7/2012) evening as well
