Just ONE Day Of No Kill And 9000 Animals Are Saved

On June 11, the anniversary of the first No Kill community in the U.S., at least 800 animal welfare organizations, animal control centers, private animal shelters and rescue organizations joined forces to save homeless pets and pledged not to kill any healthy, adoptable animals forJust One Day, the first national day of No Kill in the U.S.

Apparently, shelters which participated reported a larger-than-usual number of adoptions and members of their staff cried tears of joy because animals who would normally be put down were given a new lease of life and went to new homes. No animal was killed on that day.
Just as we advocate one day a week of no meat, perhaps shelters can also dedicate one day a month of no kill? And that day can be specially and publicly declared the Adoption Day of the month?
