Buy Cookies To Help The Doggies (Jennifer SL Leongs)

One of Jennifer Leong’s rescued dog, Terry, suspected abandoned by the owner, was recently diagnosed as having heartworms. The two-day treatment is expected to cost RM800 or more, if complications arise. We have pledged to subsidise 50% up to a maximum of RM500 as per our policy.

Jennifer is trying to raise the additional funds to cover Terry’s expenses and since she has a passion for baking cookies, I’ve suggested that she bakes cookies to raise funds for Terry.

We fully support Jennifer’s efforts at raising funds for Terry through her efforts at baking cookies and not simply asking for handouts.

We hope you will support her too.

Jennifer’s husband, Derrick, is also contributing 5% of his car servicing work to our fund if anyone goes to him for their car servicing and mentions AnimalCare:http://myanimalcare.org/2012/04/01/fix-your-car-save-the-animals-powereapers-ara-damansara/. We thank Derrick and Jennifer for their very kind and thoughtful gesture.

Below is something from Jennifer, about Terry and the cookies she will be baking in support of Terry’s medical treatment. As Terry is quite an elderly dog and has various medical problems, he will be very difficult to be rehomed. Jennifer is willing to look after Terry for life. As for now, Terry still needs to be monitored for any recurring lumps in his mouth. Jennifer has kept the removed lump in a bottle which she showed me last night, just in case any biopsy is needed later. There is much work to be done for Terry as he seems to have quite a number of medical problems. Could it be for this reason that he was abandoned by his owner, as he is a Jack Russell? You don’t find stray Jack Russells around, unless they have been abandoned.

Dear Dr Chan

Thanks for the idea. Here it is …

First and foremost, me and my husband are sincerely thankful to Dr
Chan of AnimalCare in her endless help for us in our dog rescue works.
One of them is Terry, our rescued Jack Russel.

When we first took him in October 2011, he had a lump in his mouth,
the size of a chicken heart. Animal Care helped us with the subsidy
and the lump got removed. Not long after that, we sent him for
neutering, also subsidised by AnimalCare. At that point, the vet
suggested a blood test to be done due to his old age. Terry has a
microchip in him, born in September 2004. He is 8 years old this
year. His blood test came out not so good. There are parasites in
his blood and the vet suspected that he is a heartworm patient. We
went ahead with the neutering, thank goodness Terry came out fine. As
advised, we started him off on Revolution and did a test on heartworm
test on 11 June 2012. Results came out positive. Another vet
suggested to put him on heartworm treatments which will cost us RM800
alone on the 2 shots apart from other tests to be done on kidney and
liver. Other complications will come along since he is a hyper dog.

AnimalCare has agreed to subsidise 50% of the treatment cost and the
balance will come under us. The funds required are urgent and we do
not wish to delay any longer. In order to gather the extra funds, I
suggested to bake some cookies to gather the balance of RM500 or so
for Terry.

The cookies will only be available from 16-26 June 2012 because Terry
will be admitted for his treatments on 27 & 28 June 2012. Thereafter,
I will have to stay close to Terry for 24/7 to keep him calm. This is imperative
for his recovery.
Lastorder will have to be on 24 June 2012. Orders will be continued from
27 July 2012 onwards to fund for my other rescue works. 10% of the
sale after that will be donated to AnimalCare. I sincerely hope kind and
generous donors will come forward to lend a helping hand. These
cookies are baked with premium ingredients. There are Danish Butter
Cookies – RM30, Icebox Cranberries Cookies – RM30, Melting Moments -
RM30, Cereal Cookies – RM30 and Dark Chocolate with Chunky Almonds &
Hazelnuts – RM32. All comes filled to the brim of the container and
without fancy decoration. Please see photos attached.

Additional of RM5 for delivery within Klang Valley. All cookies will
be baked upon order, therefore, the freshness is guaranteed. I can be
reached at 012-3666 208 for orders.

Thank you very much and God bless always.

Jennifer L.

Dr Chan, orders taken and to be continued on 27 July 2012 onwards, 10%
will be donated to AnimalCare. It will not be much but at least,
please do allow us to repay the kindness and generosity of yours on
your endless help to my rescue works.

Thanks again.
Jennifer L.

We appreciate Jennifer’s kind gesture in donating 10% to our fund, and we have politely declined this as we understand how much is needed to look after her few rescued dogs. She is an individual with no income of her own. However, Jennifer wishes to do this as her way of showing gratitude and also to contribute to help other animals who come our way.

We hope you will support her kind gesture, not only in helping her own rescues, but also other animals who come through us.

Thank you.
