We have subsidised RM120 for the spaying of Gori, female dog, rescued by Dawn Tan Ju Hong. Here’s the heart-warming story of how Dawn and her friends brought mother-and-puppy along to the vet for mum’s spaying so that there would be no separation anxiety.

Following up from my earlier mail dated 28May12. here is the full account of Gori’s (Dsara Pdana’s mama dog) CNRM.

Usually when weapproach Gori, with or without food, she would welcome us with a wagging tail. However, the morning we wanted to take her to the vet, shehid under the guard’s cabin and refused to eat anything, with or without the sleeping pill hidden inside.
Finally, we decided to put her puppy in the car first. Unexpectedly, she allowed us to leesh her and was very eager to get into the car to join her puppy! Phew!

Gori had 5 puppies – 3 females (black) and 2 males (brown). 2 pairs were adopted, leaving one puppy behind. Anybody wanna adopt her?

Gori: Faster, faster, I wanna get down!
As long as we had her puppy, she was obliging to follow along. Provided she had earlier trusted us to handle her puppies.

As usual, we would spray the dogs we bring to rid them of any ticks and fleas. Gori hated it. Once done, she went with the nurse to weight her baby girl. Both mother and puppy would be boarded together before the spaying.
During their course of boarding, the vet would wean the puppy off breastfeeding and start on kibbles. In addition to protecting the mother’s surgical wound, this weaning processwill minimize the mother dog’s pain, as the puppy’s teeth had emerged and may injure the mother dog’s nipples since she is extremely rough during breastfeeding.

On the day of discharged, good-natured Gori is excited to go home with her baby. The puppy had to wait another month before she was ready to be spayed, so we’ll be back!

If there’s one thing we learnt from our Vet Limo Service, that would be: The dogs behaves one kind when going to the vet, and can behave a different kind when discharged from the vet! Probably they knew they were going to the doctor, so they behaved. Probably they have healed and gotten full energy during the journey back. Both mother and daughter couldn’t sit still in the car. The mother was fidgety, the babywas like a wiggly worm, scrambling all over the place…probably looking for her mommy’s nipples.

Gori couldn’t wait to come down to visit her favourite peeing spot. We then handed the baby back to the guards and Stone (the leader) came to inspect if we brought the right puppy back. Good to see them back home
