Baggy Has Visitors!

Andy, Emily and their two children visited Baggy today!

Waiting for the guests…

Ding Dong! Here they are….

Andy with Baggy.

Emily with Baggy.

I brought a toy for Baggy…

Baggy had three new toys to play with.

This toy seems to be her favourite.

Andy and Emily had just come back after one month in Europe and they got me this photo.

It shows a street cat in Europe…

Notice that the ear is tipped?

Andy and Emily said dogs over there have SUCH a good life. They are allowed everywhere – in buses, trains, taxis, parks, restaurants and even high-end stores. Dogs go everywhere with their human companions.

We look forward to that happening over here one fine day…in the future.

Andy and Emily’s children had a fun time playing with all the cats and at one point, Tabs was missing from the scene. We mounted an immediate search for her, thinking she had escaped (again!), but finally found her hiding behind the door of the room!

Emily related some stories of what happened before Baloo’s demise and on the day Baggy came to me. Apparently, the last few days before Baloo became ill, Baggy was very close to Baloo. They did everything together and would sleep on each other on the fishpad. They were exceptionally close.

The day Baggy was supposed to come back to me for fostering, Emily had packed all her things into the carrier, waiting for Mr Teh to bring Baggy to me. These things included two square pillows which had been given as gifts to Baggy and Baloo. Emily said she put both pillows into the carrier.

However, after Mr Teh left with Baggy in the carrier, Emily went into the room and found that one pillow had been placed back in the room. Emily thinks Baggy must have carried it out, thinking Baloo might be coming back and would want to play with the pillow.

Baggy left the pillow behind for her sister, not knowing that her sister would never be coming back.

We wonder just how much animals know…

Maybe Baggy knew she was going away somewhere, and she wanted Baloo to have the pillow. Maybe she did not know Baloo had passed away.

After the visit…all tired out.

Often I look at Baggy when she seems quiet and distant, I do wonder what she is thinking about. I can’t help wondering if she misses her sister but there is no way I could tell her that her sister is gone and that this is her home now. I also wonder if she wants to go “home” to the office. Is she waiting to go “home’?

What does she want, and what will make her happy?

That’s the time when I wish I could talk to animals. Or, I wish that animals do not have very good memory so that they will forget the past easily and live in the moment and just enjoy the moment to the fullest.

We’ll never know, so we can either keep wishing or we live in the moment and do the best that we can for them.
