We managed to speak with Uncle yesterday and the good news is that Karuna now goes for walks with Uncle every day! Looks like it had taken months for Karuna to perk up and now she must be feeling much better than she was before as she looks forward to the daily walks with Uncle.
Uncle does not have a phone-camera so photographs are difficult to come by. Uncle is also an octogenarian, actually way past 80 years old, I think. Sometimes when one passes the “80th mark”, one stops aging! Uncle has a helper, so that really helps!
We provide food for Karuna on a monthly basis since Uncle was the only one who offered to look after Karuna for us. Karuna is one of our sponsored dogs (for life).
Karuna was rescued from the temple after she had been attacked by a pack of wild dogs. When she was brought in, there was a possibility that she could have been paralysed as she was in lateral recumbency.
Take a look:http://myanimalcare.org/2011/07/07/old-dog-badly-injured/(the day she was brought in)
But Karuna recovered day by day, slowly but surely, with old age problems cropping up here and there. When we finally were able to get her spayed, the vet discovered that she had already been spayed. This could mean that Karuna may have been a former pet. When we found her, she was already estimated to be 12 years old.
Karuna was returned to the temple but the wild dogs continued to hound her. So I asked if my mother could foster her and she did…until Karuna became too strong and escaped from the gates one day.
So, we had to look for an adopter, and Uncle offered to take Karuna.
The rest is history….
Karuna now goes for daily walks with Uncle and for us, that is really good news!
