Last week my daughter rescued 2 kittens from her school and brought
them home as the Headmaster wanted to get rid of them but she could
not rescue the other kitten as her classmates (naughty ones) stoned
him/her to death. Your no. was given and my kids spoke to you and were
told that you’ll come by to collect them and we have to pay RM30/-
each. We were waiting but you did not show up and the 2 kittens are
still with us – i wish i can keep them but all my 3 kids are asthmatic
and highly allergic. Pls contact me at (hp withheld) Mary or we can come
and drop them at your place. At the moment there’s no one at home,
we’ll be back only at night and soon my kids will be away for Camp. I
live in (address withheld). Please call me Melissa, we are
in fact calling you but unable to reach. Thank you.
My reply:
Dear Melissa/Mary,
You must have been given the wrong information by someone because we do not do any pick-up service for animals.
You mention in your email that I “did not show up”. I don’t remember getting any call from you at all, so how did I not show up?
You also said you are now trying to call me, but I have not received any call from anyone this morning. My handphone no is not available from the website as our contact is only by email.
You also mentioned that your “kids” spoke to me. I have not spoken to any child in the last few months in matters pertaining to animal welfare, so kindly let me know the names of the children who claimed that they had spoken to me. In fact, I would like to speak to these children as well.
I would now like to request for the name of the person who told you about this “RM30″ service because I would certainly like to speak with this person.
Kindly provide me with the contact details of this person.
If you wish to surrender the kittens, please contact the local shelters or other organisations that accept animals. Please also find out about what we do rather than rely on hearsay.
This is what we provide:http://myanimalcare.org/subsidy/
Thank you.

I just called Melissa/Mary. She says she is Mary and not Melissa.
According to Mary, an hp number (definitely not mine) was given to her and the person whom her children purportedly called was “Melissa”. This Melissa offered the pick-up service, but when Mary called back, Melissa did not pick up any of her calls. Hence, Mary decided to write to us.
How we are associated with this Melissa, I have no idea. I am the only person answerable to AnimalCare and I am definitely not “Melissa”.
I explained to Mary that we do not have any RM30 pick-up service and I have not received any call from any child in the last few months.
We certainly do not have a habit of not responding to smses or emails and we always keep our word once any form of help is promised. Our contact is not by phonecall, it is by email. We wish requesters would respect this and not insist on calling me, especially when I am in class or in a meeting. There is no need to call me for anything as I am reachable by email. We also do not run any 24-hour emergency rescue service, so why is there any need to call me at all?
I have asked for the contact details of the person who gave her this incorrect information. Mary says she will search for his/her number when she gets home. I am looking forward to speaking with his person and I certainly want to get to the bottom of this matter.
My contact details is chankahyein@gmail.com. This is the only email I write from. Please do not call or even sms if you have any request as you may be given the wrong hp by others, and you may be speaking to someone else.
To contact us for assistance, please use this form as it comes directly to me:http://myanimalcare.org/contact/. I only respond from chankahyein@gmail.com.
For the record, the only contact person for AnimalCare is me. No one else is authorised to offer any help or make any promises on behalf of AnimalCare. If you come across anyone who does, kindly inform me immediately. Thank you.
