An adult monitor lizard, with a length of around 1.2m, was found in a 1.5m deep drain. Her belly, a circumference of probably 55cm, seemed gravid with eggs.
While some passers-by reported individuals prodding with sticks and throwing stones, there were others who defended the monitor lizard’s life.
In her natural habitat now, she lay motionless but alert, after running from the car park and into the drain, peering at each of our faces as more than 10 people surrounded the railing and looked down at her.
ACRES prefers to raise awareness of the animals around us, and instead of just removing/relocating them at every sight.
