Shocking Truths About What Is Going On In Sarawak

These are based on reports by people we know personally, encountered in our job at the shelter or witnessed with our own eyes.
1. Female animals, usually dogs, being killed in barbaric ways by so-called animal lovers who think that's the best way to control the population of strays. These include being drowned in sacks thrown into drains, lakes or rivers and also smashed onto the floor as newborn puppies since the gender for dogs is obvious from birth.
2. Animals being allowed outside unsupervised and when found pregnant, the owners call the councils in to remove what they now consider as 'unwanted pets'. Instead of assuming responsibility and allowing the mothers to give birth and then try to find homes for the offspring, they simply have the mothers sent for 'disposal' and then get another pet.
3. Owners who assume that just because they've had a dog or two before, they know ALL about dogs so if an animal misbehaves, it's the animal's fault and it must be destroyed BUT because they called in the councils to bring the animals away for 'disposal', they're law-abiding citizens who did not turn their animals loose onto the streets to become strays.
4. People who will keep the male offspring of their pets or nice looking stray litters and then dump the females at pet shops, veterinary clinics or our shelter. Some will bring them over saying that those were strays but we've caught a few lying because everytime they repeat their stories that those were strays which roamed onto their properties, the stories change and some will admit in the end that their pets have gotten impregnated by their neighbours' dogs or strays.
