We Are Begining To Undrstand Why Some Rescuers And..

We are begining to undrstand why some rescuers and shelter operators bail out when they are pushed to the corner by circumstances. When this happens, you loss hope and feel as if you are suffocating. The Snake year has been very nasty for MDDB with challanges after challanges smacking us on our face. We also understand why most well-managed and well-kept shelters do not rescue. It can be detrimental. We rescued Scream because of the plight he was in. We did everything right by him – got him treated and vaccinated pending neutering. We discharged him and soon after he came down with distemper but not before infecting one of our special dogs Mon. Mon has psychtaric issues and is on various medicines to manage her moods and hence we feel these may have neuteralised her vaccinated status. She is being quaratntined at a veterinary clinic and we are all gripping the edge of our seats hoping she wont go berserk there. We also have bigger problems in that we have 80 dogs at our HWH and and we do not know how many were exposed. We also learnt from past experience that vaccinations cannot give much protection in cases of close and direct contact exposure. The only option that we have is to get all our dogs the distemper jabs available from Wawasan Vet. But that injection is about RM220 each. What do we do? Just let the dogs be and hope for the best or try our best to get them the jabs? The injections for all the 80 dogs will cost us RM17,600 and this is driving us nuts. What do we do? We must try as these dogs are our responsibility and we must dow whatever it takes to keep them alive.

If you agree with us and can help, please pay the vet directly and post your transfer slip her, private message or WhatsApp 0122501497. We are truly sorry to burden all of you with our continued requests but we beed to save our doggos’ lives.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
