Christmas Donkey Rescue?

Donkeys are often depicted in nativity scenes at Christmas time, and today, we have a chance to rescue a donkey. We are at a crossroads. He can be loaded into the slaughterhouse truck on Friday, or he can be loaded onto a rescue trailer and taken to a permanent refuge. We like to believe in the goodness of people, especially at this time of year. It will cost 400 euros ( a little more than $400) to purchase the donkey so that he won’t be sold to the slaughterhouse. Although it would be lovely for the donkey’s people to simply allow us to rescue him for free, that’s not how things go. The donkey is in Bosnia and the Usko’s Nest shelter can take custody if funds are raised.
