A Story From Thailand (courtesy Of Soi Dog)

Here’s a lovely story, from the Soi Dog newsletter:
A Soi Dog supporter found this 4 month old puppy in Phuket, guarding her mother’s corpse. Pammi refused to go anywhere (her mother had died three or four days previously). Someone had buried Pammi’s mother at a nearby tree, but Pammi was still refusing to move.Passers by had placed a plastic foam box under the stone seat where Pammi lay, but this was only a temporary make-shift home at best, especially given that it had been raining heavily for the past few days.
Soi Dog rescued Pammi & she’s been in our care now for 4 weeks. Sadly two weeks after her arrival, she tested positive to Parvo Virus. This can be fatal in puppies & we were determined to give Pammi every chance of survival. Gill & John took Pammi home & cared for her over the Songkran Festival period during which time they started administering a drug called “Interferon” – a drug used to boost the immune system & is a “supportive” drug that can help cases like these if given early enough.”Interferon” is an expensive drug & your donations enabled us to purchase the drug which helped save Pammi’s life.
Over the past few weeks, Pammi has improved immensely. She’s now out of danger & appears to have beaten parvo virus. Now we can focus on getting her fur back & build up her strength. Pammi will stay with Gill & John for the time being as there is a small risk she could still spread the virus to unvaccinated puppies. When fully recovered we have a loving home waiting for Pammi in Canada. She’s one lucky little girl!
Thank you wholeheartedly to everyone who donated & helped us to save Pammi. We cannot save dogs like these without your continued support. If you’d like to help more dogs like Pammi, please considerdonating today.
