In celebration of #WorldRiversDay, WWF-Malaysia, with the support of Setiu Adventure Park’s community project, hosted the Journey of Water: Setiu Wetlands 2024 in Kg Langkap, Setiu, Terengganu.

The event, held from 27-28 September, aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of the vital role water plays, the importance of effective water resource management, and the journey water takes from its source to our taps.

A total of 35 participants from Setiu Adventure Park, community-based organisations in the Setiu district, representatives from district and state government agencies, Universiti Malaysia Terengganu as well as WWF-Malaysia gathered for a series of interactive and educational activities such as:

💧Water quality testing

💧A sharing session on the importance of forests as water catchments and their sustainable management

💧Kayaking over an 8 km stretch of Sg. Nerus

💧wildlife monitoring using camera traps

Additionally, the event fostered meaningful connections between participants, strengthening networks for future partnerships.

Through these activities, the event successfully highlighted the need to understand, appreciate and protect our water resources and catchments—not only for human well-being but for the benefit of all life forms.
