(Previously ‘Sokka’)
Sum Sum used to stay in the bottom cabin near the back of the cat nursery at the SPCA. He wanted attention but was incredibly shy, always meowing pitifully when you walked past but hopping away to a corner on his three legs when you got closer.
Perhaps it was the change in fengshui, but Sum Sum was adopted a few weeks after he switched cabins. It has now been six months since Sum Mum and Sum Dad signed his adoption papers, and here is what they have to say!
“Our last six months with Sum Sum have been nothing but the purest, simplest happiness. Despite being experienced cat owners, we were initially concerned that we wouldn’t be able to care for a tripod cat well, as Sum Sum would be our first “special needs” cat. It turned out he didn’t really have any special needs at all – he just needed us to give him a chance. To us, Sum Sum is not just special, he is perfect!
Sum Sum also reminds us that whilst life may be a struggle at times, we can and should always make the best out of it. He never stopped running after balls or jumping up sofas despite losing his left rear leg! We hope Sum Sum’s story inspires you to consider giving a special shelter cat a second chance. Shelter animals may not always show us their true personalities in a stressful shelter environment. With the right amount of love and compassion, they will blossom into the best versions of themselves!”
