Good Morning, Good Boy Gerald!
We managed to sleep until 6.45am this morning!
I had expected yowling in the middle of the night but there was none. Not even this morning. Hence, we only woke up at 6.45am.
I came downstairs and there was still no sound at all until I opened the front door. That’s when Gerald came bounding (almost bouncing!) towards the front door.
That’s when the nonstop mewing started! Gerald was hungry!
Enjoy your breakfast, Gerald! Thanks for being such a good boy.
I think Gerald had been waiting patiently in the porch and not making a single sound.
He finished all his breakfast and I decided to bring him back inside until the morning traffic clears.
After about an hour, as I was doing my walk, I heard Gerald yowling when I passed by our house. So after I finished my walk, I took him out again.
No harness, no leash.
He doesn’t wander far.
After that, I took him back to the porch. The morning traffic had already dissipated.
Back to the porch, Gerald is free again.
He just decided to stay under one of our cars.
He’s still there now.
Happiness is being under the car in the porch! No yowling, no mewing. He seems happier being under the car than being in a comfortable bed inside.
Street animals get their happiness and contentment with such simple rituals, don’t they? They don’t need much intervention from us – Neutering, medical care (usually in their later years) and our respect for them to be who they are.
