Tabs To The Vet’s (balding Problem)

So I took Tabs to the vet’s this afternoon to get her checked.

The red round spot looked rather suspicious, so the vet did a scraping to check under the microscope.  Only 1 fungal spore was found. But I had also made the mistake of bathing Tabs this morning so I might have cleaned off the traces of spores.

So to be a sure, the vet plucked out some hair from this red spot and some other spots and did a fungal culture. We will know the results in 3-4 days.

The vet also checked Tabs’ ears as she was rubbing the side of her head on the carrier while she was there. Tabs does this often at home too and I mistook it for her wanting to eat because she would rub the side of her head on the food containers. Actually, it’s a sign of itch.

True enough, both sides of the ears had yeast in them. So, Tabs has a yeast infection in her ears.

The vet prescribed Candid-B lotion twice daily for her ears (to be applied for 10 days) and Triderm fungal cream for the red spot (thrice daily, also for 10 days).

Once the culture results are known, we will proceed from there.

(A) If it’s a fungal infection, then continue with the fungal cream and one Advocate spot-on.

(B) If it is not a fungal infection, then the vet suggests we use one Bravecto spot-on as one vial lasts 3 months.

This is the red spot.

As for the rest of the needle prick spots, perhaps there is some irritation that causes Tabs to bite those spots.
