Yesterday morning, we went back to shah Alam and caught the 7th dog for neutering. It was a hard feat as we needed to block the fences where the dog could escape before hand, making sure that there’s no exit at all after he was lured inside the compound.
MBSA came last week following a complaint by someone who works around the area claiming that the feeding of strays has caused much nuisance to the area which is not entirely true. We encouraged the feeder, Chooi Ming to meet with the person in charge of the animal control department in MBSA to discuss on the possibility of sparing the dog’s lives since most of them have been neutered. MBSA responded quite positively asking Chooi Ming to send in a formal email to them citing the reasons not to have the strays there culled. According to MBSA, all this while they have been hearing it from the stray dog haters and not the lovers, thus they don’t hesitate to carry on catching and killing when there’s a complaint. If they were to hear it from the stray dog lovers too, they may think twice before acting. We consider this as a blessing in disguise.
We have said it before and we will say it again, please write to your local council respectively in your own words persuading them to implement TNR program over catch and kill method. The real power lies in the public’s hands. This is a community battle and it start with everyone of you who loves the strays. Please start by writing to your local council. Thank you.
