Lately, with so much to do, I’ve been getting very forgetful.
There was a day where I actually could not recall if I had done Indy’s subcut. I tried recalling the events of the day, what I did, I looked at the amount of fluids left in the bottle, I even asked husband if he had seen me doing Indy’s subcut, but nothing helped me to remember.
That’s when something needed to be done.
So, now….

I write down on the fluid bottle once the subcut has been done.

These are only the morning supplements for (from left), Ginger, Indy, Tabs and Cow Mau. The probiotics and fish oil for everyone else isn’t mandatory, so that’s okay but these supplements are.
I even bought those pill organisers for the cats’ supplements. Luckily the only medication now are Amlodipine for Indy, Cow Mau and Tabs in the morning and Clopidogrel (evening) and Azithromycin (morning) for Cow Mau. The rest are supplements (mostly probiotics for kidney issues). But Azodyl has to be given an hour before food, so that’s another supplement with a special requirement. The rest can be given anytime, with or without food.
And then, there’s the RetroMAD1 injection for Cow Mau – I have a way of remembering if I’ve done that as well.
I also record in an excel file all the important things I have done for the day.
My memory isn’t as good as it used to be, so we do whatever it takes to help us. I remember way back in Form Four (and we were only 16 years old), our form teacher made it compulsory for us to keep a diary and record whatever we needed to do on a daily basis. I did think of buying a whiteboard but I believe I have a reliable system going now.
And I truly salute pet parents who look after 60-100 animals single-handedly! How do they remember and how do they cope? Such amazing people!
