Jayden came over today and when he saw Riley, he remarked, “Only one cat”. Tabs had gone upstairs to hide, as usual, so it was just Riley being downstairs.
I think Jayden misses Cow Mau and Indy. Jayden would usually hug them both whenever he came. In fact, when Cow Mau passed away, Jayden came and he called out for Cow Mau for a few days. I could only tell him that “Cow Mau isn’t here anymore”.
Jayden is too young to understand death.
Ryan also thought Indy was just sleeping when he came to pay his last respects. He also is too young to understand death or the permanence of it.
Life is impermanent but death is. Death is the only permanent thing in our lives.
What an imperfect world we live in.
Let’s get back to Riley.
Riley loves these puff balls.
Riley has a total of 21 puff balls, five of which she smuggled out from Dorami and Mina’s room when I babysat them for Chinese New Year. The rest, Ming-Yi brought over for her to play since she loves them.
Whenever Ming-Yi visits, Riley would lead her to whenever the puff balls have gone under, whether it’s the piano, the shrine table or the fridge. She wants Ming-Yi to dig the balls out for her to play.
Smart, isn’t she?
