Minnie’s 2nd Phantom of the Opera saga officially ended this morning, at about 3.15am.
I got up before 3am and I thought it might be a good time to try and get Minnie to go back out to the Catio all my herself.
Husband was asleep, so there might be a chance. She’s scared of him. And that has caused her to hide behind the piano. She had just discovered yesterday that “behind the piano” is a good Phantom of the Opera lair. We cannot catch her because we cannot reach her and if need be for some “operatic effect”, well, it’s a piano, right?
Can you hear this already?
So apt.
So I checked on Gerald and Misty in Bunny’s Place (all’s well) and went to brush my teeth.
Suddenly, I heard some mewing and there she was! Right at my feet! Minnie had come out of her lair!!
I think she wants to go back out!!
So, I quickly praised her and walked briskly to the door to the Catio and opened it.
Dipersilakan, Your Royal Minnieness….
And she walked back out!
There she goes….
Of course, she touched noses and did body rubs with Ginger.
In fact, I think Ginger missed her so much yesterday that he skipped dinner. Well, it’s okay for him to skip one meal, he needs to lose some weight so badly. But he later ate supper. Oh well…it was a small supper.
Minnie has “known” me since 2020 when she first came to ask for help with skinny little Smurfy. She was jaundiced and in early pregnancy. At that time, I had to lure Smurfy and her into the house, then take them to the vet’s and when found to be jaundiced, I had to medicate her. Surprisingly, at that time, she let me handle her and feed her medicines. Why is she so cautious now? I still cannot touch her. Catching her is totally out of the question too. She’s too cautious. Paranoid, perhaps?
Misty, whom I’ve only started feeding slightly more than a year, is more trusting.
I guess it’s just their personalities.
We have thinned out the plants everywhere now. I know, I know. It doesn’t look as nice as before. The foliage is not lush anymore. But hey, who cares about cosmetics when it’s a matter of life and death?
That reptile which spent the night in our garden was identified as a monocled cobra, it is very venomous and its bite can be fatal within 2-6 hours, I’m told.
Our front lawn now has very straggly plants. And the bottom layer has been thinned out a lot so that we can see….if there’s anything hiding there or better still, nothing would want to hide there because it’s so open and bare.
It’s the hot weather that is driving them out to seek water and a cooler place to hide.
I’m still suffering from PTSD from that traumatising event.
