We have provided an aid of RM25 for the vaccination of this mother-cat.

Mr Chong Peng Khai (Max) is a new applicant.

Max contacted me two nights ago to ask for guidance on what to do. He had just managed to trap/catch a mother-cat and her kitten, covered in fleas. So I explained the whole process on what to do and the next day, Max took them to the vet’s. According to Max, while the vet’s, it was pandemonium because the mother tried to escape. It needed 4 people to hold her down.

The vet vaccinated the mother-cat and gave her a spot-on for the fleas. According to the vet, the kitten is about 2 months old and is underweight, so he could not be vaccinated yet. I asked if he was dewormed but it was not done. Perhaps the kitten is not in the best of health. The vet said to bring back the kitten in a month together with the mother-cat’s next vaccination. The kitten was given a full body defleaing product (a spray).

We have advised Max to monitor the kitten’s appetite and weight daily (if possible) and should there be signs of inappetence of weakness, it is best to take the kitten for a check-up earlier than the next appointment.

Max will prefer a temporary shelter for them. The mother-cat needs to be confined for two weeks so that she can be neutered then.

We understand the challenges faced by many due to the rising cost of living. So we have offered our medical aid concurrent with our neutering aid for the mother-cat and the kitten when both are eventually neutered.

Thank you very much, Max, for rescuing this kitten and his mum. Getting street animals neutered is truly a noble task, both for the animals as well as the community.
